Brian Franz is global CIO at drinks giant Diageo and made the top 50 of the CIO50 list in 2010.

As well as leading IS operations worldwide, he runs Diageo Business Services (DBS) at the company, which has its headquarters in London. DBS is a global financial shared services operation that aims to advance the delivery of the business goals and create value for Diageo, the world’s largest producer of spirits and a major brewer and wine maker.

Franz joined Diageo in 2008 from PepsiCo, where he was senior VP and CIO.

Before PepsiCo, Franz spent 14 years at conglomerate GE, including working as commercial CIO for all its sales and marketing organisations worldwide. He assumed the role of CIO and integration leader at Heller Financial during its acquisition by GE in 2001.

Franz’s earlier career was spent in various IT roles at AT&T and Reader’s Digest.

He has a BA in computer science from Iona College, New York, and a Masters in telecommunications and computing management from Polytechnic University, New York.

Born in Connecticut, Franz is married with two children.
