Job Title : Head of IT and business communications
Organization : Wandsworth Council
David Tidey has overseen a transformation of IT systems at Wandsworth Council since taking charge of the council’s technology.
In the 18 months since he became head of IT and business communications he has boosted technology satisfaction levels among staff and improved system availability.
Now Tidey is looking to improve the efficiency of its IT service delivery by working with four neighbouring boroughs on a shared services and cloud project.
The council uses technology to make it easier for residents to access its services, allowing its website to be used to report problems such as abandoned vehicles and to access services such as school admission applications.
As a member of Socitm and a fellow of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, Tidey has clout in both local government and IT circles. He is currently the vice-chair of the BCS Elite group and sits on the BCS Professionalism Board.
Tidey has held roles both inside and outside the IT department, giving him an experience of how technology can drive business transformation.
His last role was as assistant chief executive of business change at Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, where he was responsible for IT, customer services and the customer services transformation programme.
He graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in physics and chemistry.
