Job Title : Chief officer (ICT)
Organization : Leeds City Council
As chief officer of ICT at Leeds City Council, Dylan Roberts has shown how the right mix of technologies can help an organisation to do more with less.
Since 2005, Roberts has cut the council’s IT costs by 30 per cent while helping the council to deliver better services by increasing its use of technology.
Transformation programmes that Roberts has had a hand in include introducing self-service programmes, automating business processes around the web and developing a business case for a shared public sector network to serve multiple public bodies across Yorkshire and the Humber.
Outside of his Leeds role, Roberts chairs the Socitm Futures group, which leads on setting policy for Socitm, the membership association for public and third sector IT professionals and suppliers.
A member of the Local CIO Council, Roberts leads streams on behalf of local public services on the public sector network and the government cloud computing programme: the G-Cloud.
Roberts is an experienced IT leader – he has more than 10 years’ experience as a CIO and previously worked as head of IT at Denbighshire County Council. MBA-qualified Roberts – a passionate Welshman – is also a keen football fan.
