Job Title : Group CIO
Organization : LGC
In his role as group CIO, Gideon Kay is using technology to enhance operations at international science-based company LGC.
He is in charge of LGC’s technology strategy, infrastructure and operations, as well as delivery of two major transformation programmes of back- and front-office systems.
Under Kay’s stewardship, LGC has used technology to foster better ways of working, particularly in fields of social networking, productivity and technology-enabled laboratory processes.
As well as focusing on implementing these initiatives in forensic science, an area where LGC is a market leader, Kay plans to roll them out across the business’ other core operating areas: analytical and diagnostic services and reference standards.
During his career, Kay has held senior positions at Balfour Beatty, leading the IT and business transformation functions of the facilities management business, and Arthur Andersen, in a management consulting role.
Aside from his professional achievements, he also recently completed his first ever triathlon over the Olympic distance and is currently training for both the Blenheim Triathlon and a London-to-Brighton bike ride.
Kay studied computer science and software engineering at Birmingham University.
