Job Title : Corporate director of business change

Organization : Birmingham City Council

Glyn Evans is corporate director of business change at Birmingham City Council, where he is responsible for ensuring business transformation is adopted, embedded and implemented across the organisation. This role has included overseeing the development of a comprehensive methodology for supporting business transformation, known as Champs2.

He is also president of Socitm, the Society of Information Technology Management, and a member of the government’s CIO Council, the Local CIO Council and the Local Government Delivery Council.

Evans, who has more than three decades’ experience of working in local government IT, joined Birmingham City Council in 2003 – as director of business solutions and IT with a remit to drive forward a business transformation programme.

He led the development of the council’s approach to transformational change, and the creation of a joint venture with the private sector to support the change programme, before taking on his present role as corporate director of business change.

Significant milestones in the past 12 months include the launch of personal accounts on the council’s website, the transformation programme becoming a net contributor to the council’s revenue budget, and Champs2 being launched as a product accredited by APMG, sitting alongside Prince2.

Evans enjoys travelling both for and outside work, and is a keen landscape photographer and hill walker. He is slowly working his way through the more than 280 Munro mountains in Scotland.
