Ian Cohen has been Group CIO at insurance broker and enterprise risk management provider Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group since 2009.

This year is the third time Cohen has made it onto the CIO50 list following appearances in 2007 and 2008 when he was CIO and group executive director of Associated Newspapers.

Cohen is responsible for Jardine Lloyd Thompson’s overall technology strategy as well as the services and systems used within the company. He also has accountability for purchasing and procurement in the UK.

Jardine Lloyd Thompson is currently undergoing a transformation change programme, which Cohen is leading, and includes corporate governance, product innovation and strategic sourcing.

Cohen has more than 25 years of IT experience. Prior to joining Associated Newspapers in 2005, he was group IT director for the Financial Times after arriving at the group as CTO for FT.com in 2001. Before that, he was head of group strategy for ecommerce at Lloyds TSB.

Cohen is an avid social media user, regularly blogging and tweeting his thoughts, and serves in an advisory capacity for several industry bodies.

Outside of work, Cohen ‘s passions are his family – he is married with three daughters – playing music and supporting Chelsea FC, who he has followed since 1967.
