Catherine Doran has over 30 years of IT industry experience, during which she has managed some of the largest corporate technology infrastructures in the UK.

Since September last year Doran has been CIO for Royal Mail, where she has brought to completion the implementation of the largest SAP HR and payroll system in Europe. Before joining Royal Mail, Doran was CIO and director of corporate development for Network Rail.

While at Network Rail, Doran oversaw a £1bn IT overhaul as part of a business transformation programme, which involved the organisation-wide upgrade of hardware, software and networks.

Future projects for Doran at the Royal Mail including looking at implementing a barcode system to automate mail tracking and continuing the rollout of handheld devices to staff.

Doran is also a non-executive director for DEFRA, a non-executive director of the British Quality Foundation and also a member of the CIO Board for e-skills UK.
