Darrell Stein has been working in IT for 22 years. He started his career at Marks & Spencer in 1990, leaving in 1994 to join Mars as a project manager, where he worked on data warehousing and financial systems.
Stein went on to work for Ernst & Young between 1996 and 2001, leading a number of major IT and change programmes in the financial services, retail and utility sectors.
From 2001 to 2006, he worked at Vodafone, becoming IT director for Vodafone UK in January 2004 - before that he was Vodafone's UK network director and global IT strategy and architecture director.
In July 2006, Stein rejoined Marks & Spencer as IT director. In 2008, he was promoted to the operating board and given additional responsibility for logistics. Since then he has continued the transformation of IT systems in areas including retail, multi-channel, foods, HR and international.
In logistics, Stein is also responsible for a global supply-chain programme tasked with delivering £300m a year in savings.
