Another CIO50 stalwart is David Lister, global CIO of utility company National Grid.
Lister, who has held his current role for almost four years, has appeared on the CIO50 list since its first year, in 2007.
Prior to joining National Grid, where he is spearheading a reinvention of the company's technology strategy, Lister spent a year as group CIO and chief architect at RBS where he was charged with creating the future operations and technology strategy and incorporating the integration of ABN Amro.
Before RBS, Lister spent almost four years at Reuters, driving the company's Fast Forward transformation programme, establishing a global technology platform and cutting the cost of delivering IT services.
Lister's CV lists a number of other CIO roles. He has headed up IT at Boots and at drinks company Diageo as well as some of its brands including Guinness, and he has also spent some time early on in his career as a consultant for Coopers & Lybrand.
As well as his day job, Lister holds several other board-level positions, including non-executive director of both the Department of Work and Pensions and datacentre colocation company Internexion, as well as being a member of the board of IT industry body e-skills UK.
