Ian Cohen has been group CIO at insurance broker and enterprise risk-management provider Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT) since 2009.
As CIO, Cohen is responsible for JLT’s overall technology strategy as well as the development and delivery of all IT services and systems used within the company. He also has accountability for procurement and purchasing in the UK.
Most recently, Cohen has been the driving force behind JLT’s global digital transformation programme, focused primarily on enabling corporate strategy through the adoption of social-enterprise tools and techniques.
Cohen has more than 25 years of IT experience. Before his role at JLT, Cohen spent several years at Associated Newspapers, joining the company in 2005. Before that, he was group IT director for the Financial Times after initially holding the position of CTO for FT.com in 2001. Cohen has also spent time as head of group strategy for ecommerce at Lloyds TSB.
Cohen is an avid social-media user, regularly blogging and tweeting his thoughts, and serves in an advisory capacity for several industry bodies.
Outside work, Cohen’s passions are his family – he is married with three daughters – music – he was a session musician in a previous life – and supporting Chelsea FC – a team he has followed since 1967.
