John Callan has over 27 years’ experience in all areas of IT, including application development and maintenance, infrastructure services, major integrations, offshoring, outsourcing, strategy and governance.

His role as head of shared services ICT for Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East makes him responsible for all ICT delivery, as well as shaping a separate legal entity for both authorities.

Before joining Cheshire, Callan was head of ICT for Liverpool City Council, managing the joint-venture relationship with BT Global Services and Liverpool Direct Limited. He is a member of the North West Socitm leadership team and the National Government CIO Council and Local CIO Council.

He actively participates in diversity and inclusion programmes, mentoring graduates from ethnic backgrounds and he is a mentor for Network for Black Professionals.
