In September, after two years in the role of CIO at UK publisher News International, Paul Cheesbrough was promoted to chief technology officer at its global parent company, News Corporation.
In his UK CIO role at News International, Cheesbrough was responsible for the organisation’s technology strategy, which included delivery, transformation programmes and digital products. Joining in 2010, he introduced a number of significant changes, moving the company to more cloud-based technologies and making innovation and engineering central to the business
Since his appointment as News Corporation CTO, Cheesbrough has focused on setting the organisation’s global technology strategy, and collaborating with senior leaders across the company to ensure continued digital innovation.
Before News International, Cheesbrough was CIO at the Telegraph Media Group. His work there, pioneering the development of a wide range of new digital products, earned him a place on the 2010 CIO50.
Cheesbrough can also list controller of digital media for the BBC among a number of important previous posts, having started his career in IBM’s media division.
