Job Title : CIO

Organization : Oxfam GB

Peter Ransom took up the role of CIO at global charity Oxfam in 2010, and makes his first appearance on the CIO50 list this year.

Before joining Oxfam, Ransom was head of technology at the BBC for a number of years, and previously held numerous engineering, IT and business roles at companies including Centrica and Marconi.

In his current role, Ransom manages a team of IT professionals in Oxfam’s Oxford headquarters, who support the organisation’s staff in the 82 countries in which it operates.

His key challenge at Oxfam is elevating the charity to full IT capability, including satellite-linked operations in hostile environments, and he is now implementing technologies including cloud services with a view to generating efficiencies and meeting business needs.
