In 2012, Stephen Potter became CIO at Business Monitor International (BMI), a global B2B information company providing economic data, analysis and forecasts on 175 countries across 22 industry sectors.
Potter is a keen open-source and cloud enthusiast and is using these approaches to drive the rapid growth of the business, focusing on sharing BMI's rich data with clients through a transformed online platform.
Before BMI, Potter was CIO at global risk intelligence firm World-Check, where he moved back-office functions into the cloud, allowing IT to focus on optimising content creation and online product offerings. World-Check was then sold to Thomson Reuters in 2011.
Before joining World-Check, Potter was senior IT director at the global business information provider IHS, where he managed IT, including mergers and acquisitions, in the EMEA and APAC regions. He also ran the global product-development team for the Insight business division.
Potter joined IHS from Reuters where he held a variety of IT leadership roles in the UK, Middle East and the Americas. His time at Reuters culminated in leading IT for the Reuters global news and financial data production operation.
As his career suggests, Potter is a keen traveller and has an ambition to live and work in Asia. In the UK, he keeps fit through hiking and playing squash.
