Job Title : CIO
Organization : Unilever
In May 2010, Willem Eelman took on the role of CIO for Unilever with the clear brief to drive the use of technology to address the fragmented IT systems landscape at the international consumer goods company.
Since then, Eelman has been crafting a strategy that enables Unilever to be closer to its consumers, customers and suppliers, using technology to improve core products and drive new ways of working for Unilever's staff.
In addition to his role with Unilever, Eelman is a non-executive director and head of audit committee at GrandVision, a leading optical retailer.
Outside work, Eelman has been married to his wife for 22 years and has four children. He is a native Dutch speaker but is also fluent in English and German, to the detriment of his French, which has become rusty from years of neglect.
Eelman is a keen golfer and runner and, if there are any spare minutes left in the day, he enjoys reading about history.
