Clean up your Android apps drawer by hiding apps with Nova Launcher

Jack Wallen shows you how to declutter your Android app drawer by hiding apps with the help of Nova Launcher.

Why would you want to hide apps? The answer to that is simple — to clean up your app drawer without having to uninstall apps. The app drawer can get pretty jam packed which can lead to having trouble finding that app you need. To that end, why not hide away those apps you need, but don't often use?

Fortunately, Nova Launcher has that feature built-in. It's actually quite simple to use. Once you've hidden apps away from sight, the only way to get them back is to unhide them.

Here's how to hide apps in the Android app drawer. I'll demonstrate on the Verizon-branded HTC M8.

  1. Open the app drawer
  2. Tap the overflow menu
  3. Tap the Apps drop-down
  4. Tap Configure
  5. Tap to select all of the apps you want to hide
  6. When done, tap the back button

If the app drawer isn't open, reopen it to see if those apps no longer show up in your app drawer.

If you want access to those apps again, here's how to reverse the process:

  1. Open the app drawer
  2. Tap the overflow menu
  3. Tap the Apps drop-down
  4. Tap All

Now the hidden apps should appear. To read hide them, go back to the overflow menu and select My Apps from the Apps drop-down.

Cleaning up that ever-growing app drawer is a piece of cake, thanks to Nova Launcher. Give this a try and see if your Android device isn't a bit more efficient.
