Last month I blogged about the fact that IT employment was surging in the U.S. during 2005 and more of the same was expected in 2006. It looks like Europe is experiencing a similar upsurge, according to a new Eurocom Worldwide report that surveyed nearly 300 executives in 20 European countries and was published in The Register. The Eurocom report found that almost two-thirds of tech companies in Europe plan to increase their staff in the next 12 months while only eight percent are planning staff reductions.

A few other interesting items from the report:

  • A third of the companies said that it was getting harder to recruit tech workers (because of growing demand)
  • Software engineers and project managers are most in demand
  • Like the U.S., Europe is aso seeing tech manufacturing jobs migrate to Asia
