Crisis is looking for volunteers to put their IT skills to good use this ChristmasPhoto: Shutterstock

If you fancy putting your tech skills to work this festive season beyond helping nieces and nephews working out how to use their new smartphones, Crisis is on the hunt for IT volunteers.

Its Crisis at Christmas project will see the charity running nine centres in London where homeless and vulnerably-housed people will be able to get hot food, companionship and access to services such as health checks, housing advice, training and further education opportunities.

According to Crisis, last Christmas nearly 2,000 people used the internet cafes at its centres.

The charity is now looking for IT volunteers to lend a hand at the centres this year, helping out with IT workshops, supporting visitors who don’t have experience of using a PC or the internet or aiding them in using Office to write a CV.

Crisis is asking for volunteers to sign up for a minimum of two shifts at one of the centres, which are expecting 3,000 visitors between them over the Christmas period.

Shifts run from 10am to 7pm, from Friday 23 December through to Thursday 29 December.
