VNUnet reports that the premium service of the RSS news feed management provider Feedburner will now be available at no extra charge. The services include Stats PRO (to track ad metrics) and MyBrand (adding own URL to feeds).
Here’s a quote from the article:
Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management at Google, said at the time of the acquisition that the search giant “constantly aims to give AdWords advertisers broader distribution to an even wider audience of users.”
This is one advantage that users have when a premium service provider is acquired by Google. Since the primary revenue source for Google is ads, the premium services attract a wider audience when it’s free and the host companies get to monetize on Google’s huge advertising network. I would love to hear what the Google-haters have to say about this sort of win-win situation. Flames here please.
