If you uncover a questionable fact or debatable aspect of this week’s Geek Trivia, just post it in the discussion area of the article. Every week, yours truly will choose the best quibble from our assembled masses and discuss it in a future edition of Geek Trivia.

This week’s quibble comes from the Dec. 2, 2008 edition of Geek Trivia, “Name, prank, and serial number.” TechRepublic member aramis109 dinged me for invoking a common misnomer from contemporary consumer electronics, namely a Blu-ray DVD player:

“It’s not a ‘Blu-Ray DVD player.’ While it does play both Blu-Ray and DVD, that’s akin to saying ‘Windows XP 3.1.’ This can cause confusion for new adopters of the format. Just call it a ‘Blu-Ray player’ and the movies ‘Blu-ray movies’ or ‘BD movies.'”

After learning the hard way about the plural of Walkman and the dangers of genericide, I should have known better. Thanks for the friendly terminology reminder, and keep those quibbles coming!
