“You describe the interiors of these Great Spots as ‘stagnant air masses.’ On Earth, that is probably an accurate description. I do not think that would hold true on Jupiter, Saturn or Neptune. ‘Air’ is usually defined as a mixture of gases required for breathing with an implicit understanding that one of the gases is oxygen!”
Well, to be fair, there are probably trace amounts of oxygen in Jupiter’s atmosphere but, strictly speaking, air is not well considered a technical term when describing extraterrestrial meteorology. Thanks for the quibble, and keep them coming!
