New Google service searches
for computer code
.

Ever need a chunk of code to

reuse? I have libraries of them on old CD-ROMs, but searching for what I need

is just too much trouble.

Now Google Labs

comes to the rescue with special search syntax designed just to look through program

code.

Syntax such as:

File:

Package:

Lang:

And

License:

Will help narrow your
search, but check out the site for more details.

At one and the same time this

is both a great idea and possibly an incredible threat both to security and to your

intellectual property if some of your code mistakenly got into public domain

but you had relaxed because you thought, “who could ever find it?”

The potential security

threat is so obvious I won’t go into that, but for programmers this could also be an

incredible tool.
