So I hit my first glitch with Linspires desktop Linux alternative. I could not for the life of me get VMware Workstation 5.5 to work. I spent several hours trying to figure this out with no luck. This kind of stuff is utterly ridiculous and a gigantic waste of my time. If I was an average user, I would never perform these steps.
It is ludicrous to think that Granny Smith would do this. She would much rather click Next, Next, Next, Finish and continue making her delicious apples. If she used a Linux system, her apples would be spoiled before she ever got them to Publix.
And to all of you naysayers, WHATEVER! You can tell me all day long that I am not smart, or I need to step up to the plate, or be a man, bull. What I am telling all of you is that I do step up to the plate when it is necessary but having to spend hours researching loading a simple program is non productive. In a Windows environment, VMware Workstation 5.5 would have been loaded and I would have been playing ball with my kids. In fact, as you all are sleeping tonight, I am configuring an active/active cluster for a client and it is not on Linux.
I finally found the solution. Check out the thread on WS 5.5 working on Linspires distro. The more I work with Linux the more I realize it just is not ready for the masses.
