At a time when terrorist attempts are imminent and the security on passenger planes in the U.S. has reached its highest level, I like to think about bunnies. Cute bunnies. Cute bunnies that talk. Check out this news story: “Robot rabbit reads RSS feeds out loud.”

According to the article, the Nabaztag Smart Rabbit (developed in France, but recently introduced to the U.S. market) “uses a Wi-Fi connection and text-to-speech software to read things like RSS feeds, e-mails, and weather reports out loud.”

“The Nabaztag rabbit is currently available for purchase in the U.S. from ThinkGeek, or directly from Nabaztag.com, for $149.99. While the Nabaztag will work with any Wi-Fi network, it does need to be plugged into an electrical outlet for power. Once the Nabaztag rabbit is connected, its owner registers it online, gives it an official name, and chooses one of the subscription services designed to work with it.”

Ok, so it’s not fluffy and it doesn’t look like it would make a good snuggle buddy, but I’ll take one. Will the Nabaztag rabbit catch on and become the next most popular desktop companion? What do you think? Hare today, gone tomorrow?
