SFSignal points us to this post from Toys4Troops, about members of the U.S. Army trying to put on a game convention in Iraq, so that the geekier members of the American military can let off some steam with the best possible kind of RPGs (roleplaying games, rather than rocket-propelled grenades, though the former does occasionally feature the latter). It’s being dubbed Ziggurat Con, its open to all allied military personnel and contractors, and it will be a one-day event held June 9 at Camp Adder/Tallil Airbase.

While the Army’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) service is helping where they can, the troops are a bit short on game materials, including dice and especially prizes. Amazon.com will ship to military addresses, so check out this page and consider mailing your old or new gamestuffs to the fighting men and women who have been cut off from so many of the conveniences and niceties of modern life, including core elements of geekery.
