When keeping track of personal and business expenses, some people prefer a cloud-based platform like Mint to track their bank account balances and recurring bill payments. However, not everyone wants to place trust in an online cloud service for managing such activities.

My Bills is an Android app offered in the Google Play Store for $1.99 (USD). Before you purchase the app, you might want to try out the ad-based My Bills Free. The best part about My Bills is that you don’t have to provide bank account information or even connect to the internet. All it does is organize your expenses and then alert you when a payment deadline draws near.

Setting up My Bills is quite easy. In the following example, I’ll show you how to start a recurring bill reminder:

  1. When you first launch the app, tap the Bills calendar icon.
  2. Tap the Bills calendar icon.
  3. At the calendar screen, tap the R button in the upper left-hand corner.
  4. Tap the R button in the top right corner.
  5. Click the plus sign [+] and then fill in all the relevant details regarding your recurring expense.
  6. Fill in all of your payment details.
  7. Once you tap Save, you’ll be dropped back into the calendar to review this and any other bills currently active. To edit a bill at any time, simply tap the date and the bill in question.
  8. Tap a date and bill to edit your saved information.
  9. Finally, configure your reminder time by pressing the back button on your Android menu bar and then tapping the exclamation point icon labeled Reminder.
  10. Change the notify time and how many days in advance you want the reminder alert to go off, which can be set at up to three days in advance.
  11. You can set the reminder to go off up to three days in advance.

    That does it! You’ve set up your first monthly bill payment reminder. Simply repeat these steps for any additional expenses you might have.
