Find out what key assignments are available to you with your Word documents. This may be useful if, for instance, you can’t recall the shortcuts you assigned to your Word templates, or you’re on someone else’s computer and want to know which keys are available. Don’t waste time picking keys that already have assignments — follow these steps:

  1. Create a new document for the template to which you will assign the new keys.
  2. Go to File | Print or press [Ctrl]P.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow of the Print What dialog box, select Key Assignments, and then click OK.

Word will now print an alphabetical list of all custom shortcut keys created for standard Word commands and other functions, such as macros and styles, assigned to that document’s template. For documents with no custom keys assigned, Word will print the following:
