Long before Apple officially announced and debuted the iPhone 5 today, TechRepublic contributors and many other media outlets predicted what the new model might offer business users, whether it would disappoint, and how many Android users would switch to using an iPhone. Even though concrete details were provided at the Apple media event about the new iPhone model and iOS 6, some questions about how these new releases will translate into iPhone adoption and enterprise deployments remain unanswered at this time.

- Capacity and price: 16 GB ($199), 32 GB ($299), 64 GB ($399) (with a two-year wireless service contract)
- Height: 4.87 inches
- Width: 2.31 inches
- Depth: 0.30 inch
- Weight: 3.95 ounces
- OS: iOS 6
- Display: Retina, 4-inch widescreen Multi-Touch, 1136 x 640 pixel resolution at 326 ppi
- Global 4G LTE connectivity: Available on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon in the U.S.; Softbank, Smartone, Singtel, SK Telecom in Asia; and Deutsche Telekom and EE in Europe.
- Wi-Fi networking: 802.11n
- Wireless connectivity: Supports HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSDPA
- Processor: A6 chip (which Apple says is up to twice as fast as the A5 chip)
- Battery: Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, talk time up to eight hours on 3G / standby time up to 224 hours
- Camera: 8 megapixel iSight camera, panorama, video recording, HD 1080p, FaceTime HD, Autofocus, and more
- Connectors: Lightning connector, 3.5-mm stereo headphone minijack, microphone, built-in speaker (One of the most talked about issue with the iPhone 5 is that you’ll need the $29 30-pin Adapter to work with the Lightning connector. The adapter is sold separately.)
- Colors: Black & Slate or White & Silver
Pre-orders start September 14, 2012, and devices will start shipping September 21, 2012. iOS 6 will be released September 19, 2012 and will be available on the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 3GS, the iPad 2, the iPad 3, and the fourth-generation iPod Touch.
