IBM released Tivoli Identity Manager 5.0, with major updates to simplify compliance requirements and reduce deployment time.

An excerpt from InfoWorld:

A major focus of the update is speeding up deployment. The product features a range of guidelines, wizards, and templates that can cut deployment times in half, claimed Joe Anthony, program director of identity management for Tivoli.

This is the major update to the identity management product in about two and a half years.

An excerpt from CRB online:

Users can now tap a centralized repository of reports on security policy, access rights and audit events. IBM has also added new management review, sign-off and auto-correction capabilities for removing access rights. Before IT managers had to manually pick through spreadsheets and email business managers reviews and log their responses in reports for auditing purposes. And the same cycle needed to be repeated every quarter.

A leader in the identity management space, IBM’s product faces competition from Cisco, who’s Network Access Control (NAC) product also seeks to unify identity management across the enterprise.
