Travel can make you a little crazy. Between remembering to stop your mail and check in for your flight, it’s no surprise when you get to your destination and realize you forgot to pack socks.
Well, thanks to IFTTT, you can automate certain tasks to make your travel run more smoothly.
If you’re unfamiliar, IFTTT is a web service that lets you build If This Then That conditional statements for apps. They’re got 2 apps — IF and DO that help you get things done. Today, we’re talking about IF.
So, first up, you can create a recipe that sends you a text or notification with today’s– or tomorrow’s weather report at a certain time, like first thing in the morning before you get ready for the day.
Second, if you use Dash, which is a platform that turns your “dumb” car into a smart car, you can create a recipe that uses dash’s information to log your trip details into a Google spreadsheet. So, when it comes time to file that expense report, you know exactly where you’ve been.
Third, since we’re on the subject of expense reports, you can create a recipe that saves photos you take — like of your receipts, and drops them in one of several locations, like Google Drive, Evernote, or Dropbox.
Fourth, you can create a recipe to post to Facebook that you’re in town when you touch down or arrive in a certain city. Maybe you know some folks there — if it means meeting up with friends instead of hanging out alone at the hotel bar, it sure can’t hurt.
