ConGlomeration logoConGlomeration 2006 is (to quote the flyer) “Louisville’s premier multimedia science fiction and fantasy convention,” and TechRepublic’s own Trivia Geek (that’s me) will be in attendance all three days, Aug. 11-13, 2006.

Now, this Trivia Geek won’t so much be a guest as I’ll be one of the schmoes running the registration desk, which means you can get the whole “I love your column” / “Can I have your autograph?” / “God, you suck, why don’t you just kill yourself?” moment out of the way as soon as you arrive, and then go on to more fruitful and enjoyable pursuits during the rest of the convention. And if you aren’t willing to schedule vacation, travel, and pay a con admission fee just to take cheap shots at a Z-list Web columnist, what kind of uber-geek are you, anyway?

(If you register by July 25, the three-day pass is a mere $25 per

person–cheaper than almost any other convention in the country! You can get a printable registration form here.)

If you’re looking for a real reason to show up (besides rabbit-punching a Trivia Geek), well, we’ve got the whole Harry Turtledove thing goin’ for us. If you don’t know who that is, you can turn in your science fiction credentials right now.

There will also be filking, roleplaying, LARPing, a sci-fi/fantasy art show, a full-fledged dealers room of books, games and collectibles, a masquerade ball, the best free-food-serving hospitality suite in the business (because my pal Evan runs it), and THREE DAYS of PROGRAMMING!

Personally, when I’m not at the reg desk, I’ll be in the game room (co-running a Stargate RPG session, and and possibly a Serenity one-shot), or at the APEX writers workshop. There will also be room parties. The less said about those in a public forum, the better. Rest assured, they’re…uh…memorable.

Be there or be square. Er…more square. Or less. Square by geek standards. Whatever.
