As part of the licensing deal that the Nokia has signed with Immersion Corporation, the Finnish mobile phone giant will get to use Immersion’s touch feedback system (cellular-news) in its mobile phones.

“This license with Nokia supports the potential for very widespread use of our VibeTonz System — and the VibeTonz System supports the potential for a much fuller, more multi-sensory experience for users,” said Immersion CEO Victor Viegas.

The long-term license (MobileTechNews) will allow Nokia to develop touch screen-based mobiles. The technology, called VibeTonz Tactile Feedback System (itWire), can also enliven games and provide users with varied touch sensations. Nokia’s Forum developers will get to develop downloadable applications for VibeTonz-enabled products using a SDK supplied by Immersion.
