in brief Thomas Ford, Opera communications manager said Opera had a perfect score of a 100% on the Acid3 test, only to be disappointed hours later when the test was changed due to a bug and Opera’s score dropped to 99%.

Ford said Opera is only a few issues away from passing the test, and it hopes they will be ironed out soon. Acid3 tests browsers for faults in ECMAScript and Document Object Model 2 implementations.

The company is expected to release a technical preview version on next week.

Ford said Opera passed the Acid3 on its core rendering engine, Presto, which means all its browsers built on this engine will also pass the test, including future mobile phones and game consoles.
