Roman D20Of all the things you missed from the year 2003, this may be the nerdiest: A twenty-sided gaming die from ancient Rome. Before you start drooling over the possibility of adding this relic to your converted Crown Royal dice bag, there are two things to remember: Nobody knows what the non-Roman, non-Arabic symbols on the die represent, and the die in question sold at auction for just shy of $18,000. Kind of makes these $15 giant steel D20s seem reasonable. (Hint: They’re not.) Also, I have it on good authority the Romans dealt with rules lawyers in the same way they dealt with other “unmanly acts.” Ah, good times.
