Microsoft surprised me with the number of applications Windows Phone 7 had when it launched, especially considering the predictions of dismal sales. Microsoft can credit an aggressive campaign aimed at developers for those sales predictions.

With Windows 8, Microsoft is working even harder to do the same. At the same time, people are fairly pessimistic about Windows 8, with criticisms aimed squarely at the Metro UI, and a lack of faith in Microsoft’s OEM partners to deliver tablet devices that will do well. These doubts are definitely holding many developers back from getting ready with a Windows 8 app for launch time. I would love to have one, but I do not have the time at the moment. What about you?
