Why does printer software need to be so miserable? I had the supreme displeasure this week of wrestling with a new HP printer. Our old printer was an HP, and due to a multitude of hassles with the software, I ruled out any HP printer from my list of suggestions. My boos needed a printer immediately, though, and all he could find locally was an HP. So HP it was.
The old software took literally 20 – 30 minutes to uninstall from each PC. The new software averaged 30 minutes per PC to install. The only highlight is that one PC finally stopped throwing off DEP errors in svchost.exe after it was removed (why does a printer need a service to be installed?).
