One of the entrants in the wireless HD technology race, Pulse~LINK, has announced a new ultra-wideband chipset that it claims can deliver up to 890 Mbps of sustained throughput.

Pulse~LINK explains that the glaring performance gap between its own product and that of its competitors came about because it stayed focused exclusively on wireless HD. Competitors, on the other hand, chose to use the PC-centric wireless USB protocol.

As it is, Pulse~LINK promises between 480 Mbps and 890 Mbps, depending on transmission range.

According to the performance comparison, the CWave is capable of delivering up to 890Mbps of throughput at very close range, dropping to around 480 Mbps at a distance of eight feet. That’s still much faster than the study’s reference wired USB transfer rate of ~160 Mbps…
