Your server room may be perfect—every Ethernet cable in place, all the KVM and power cables neatly tucked into the sides of the racks, tape backups organized and labeled, and dust carefully removed.
Unfortunately, some server rooms are nothing but living examples of bad planning and worse execution.
We featured some of the worst server room nightmares in a gallery way back in 2010. A lot has changed in the tech world since then, but one thing is for certain: nightmarish server rooms are still around.
TechRepublic's server room nightmare challenge part II: the "rack"ening
It's time to see who has been unfortunate enough to encounter—or work in—a server room nightmare. We're taking submissions from any and all TechRepublic readers who've stepped into the belly of the beast. Now is your chance to see if you really have it worse than the rest of the IT world!
You have from now until October 28th, 2016 to submit your photos of messy, chaotic, or just plain scary server rooms. Please send photos (original only, please. We will check.), along with a little information about the photo you're submitting, to serverroomnightmares (at) cbsinteractive.com. The TechRepublic editorial staff will select their favorite photos to be featured in an upcoming gallery, and some lucky users may even end up with some TechRepublic swag!
