There are certain industries where encryption is a requirement because of the need to keep sensitive data from prying eyes, or to be within compliance of one association or another. For some tasks (such as email) there are specific tools that serve as Outlook Add-ons. But what if your need is more for files and folders? What tools do you use to encrypt/decrypt on that level?
Ashampoo Magical Security 2 is a tool that enables you to encrypt/decrypt files and folders either from a simple to use window or from within Windows Explorer. It’s easy to use and might just be the file/folder encryption tool you are looking for.

Who’s it for?
Ashampoo Magical Security 2 is an easy to use file/folder encryption application that can be used by anyone needing to encrypt either files or folders quickly. This tool can also encrypt files as standard encrypted files or as encrypted .exe files (for simple restoration). And the low cost of $29.99 makes it a viable choice for any size company or even a single user.
What problem does it solve?
Ashampoo Magical Encryption 2 enables just about any user, regardless of experience, to harness the power of encryption on the desktop. It also enables the user to easily save these files to a burnable CD or DVD. And, just as easily as Ashampoo Magical Security 2 encrypts, it does the same for decryption.
- Simple one-click encrypting/decrypting of files/folders
- Complete deletion of files/folders (if needed)
- Explorer integration
- Uses latest encoding technology
- Burn to CD/DVD
- Encoded email dispatch of files/folders
- Integrated file manager
- Easy to use GUI
The biggest problem with Magic Security 2 is that the user is not able to determine what type of encryption they want to use. Although the included encryption is fairly standard, there might be instances (or requirements) that call for stronger-than-standard encryption schemes. For that type of encryption you will have to look elsewhere. You will also find that essential directories like Documents, Pictures, etc. cannot be encrypted with AMS2. You can encypt/decrypt sub-folders within those directories, but not the directories themselves.
Bottom line for businesses
If you have a need to encrypt files and folders, and you have users that might not be up to speed with using a more complex system, Ashampoo Magical Security 2 might well be the perfect solution. With an incredibly easy to use GUI as well as Explorer integration, you will be hard-pressed to find an easier solution for this task. But if your business requires stronger than average encryption you better look the other way, as AMS is not the tool for you.
