After acquiring a number of tech companies through 2005, Oracle is now rumoured to buy JBoss.

There’s a rumour circulating the Web that Oracle may buy open-source application server developer, JBoss.

Oracle bought a number of companies during 2005, including Siebel Systems and Global Logistics Technologies and JBoss is Oracle’s largest open-source competitor. The buy would give Oracle a foothold in Enterprise Open Source, allowing it to tap into the OS movement, and at the same time take control of the only open-source application server available.

Builder AU stresses that this is just a rumour at this stage, and neither Oracle nor JBoss executives are willing to comment, with both parties remaining tight-lipped on future plans.
