Seagate admits that it had to go back to the drawing board for its upcoming range of hybrid flash hard drives.
There was great fanfare when the idea of hybrid hard disk was first mooted. The idea is that hard disks will get much faster but will use less power, thanks to the solid state nature of flash technology. Unfortunately, hybrid drives have so far failed to deliver on the promised performance boost.
However, Seagate appears confident that its upcoming range will be able to deliver the goods.
Speaking at the launch, she said that the company has a new model in the works that should solve the problems. “That sucker is fast and will blow anything that’s out there today out of the water,” she rather confidently predicted.
