In order to get SQL Server 2005 properly working in Windows Vista, you must load SQL Server SP2.
By default, Administrators are not automatically granted rights to connect to SQL Server. Once you load SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on your Windows Vista machine, please download and install SQL Server 2005 SP2.
