Nearly 70 percent of respondents to a recent TechRepublic survey say their company has made an employee cancel his or her time off because of a special project or emergency.

By comparison, only 22.9 percent of the 236 respondents said that their company has forced an employee to take vacation because the employee was working too hard or had not taken a vacation in a long time.

The informal survey ran in TechRepublic’s CIO community last month as part of our coverage of the Pervasive Workplace. The survey also asked about maternity leave and overtime compensation.
