In Windows Server 2003, you can export the
table view of data for most Administrative Tools to a tab-delimited
.txt file or a comma-delimited .cvs file. You can then import this
file into other applications, such as Excel.
Follow these steps to export a list of users
from Active Directory Users And Computers:
- From the Administrative Tools folder, open
Active Directory Users And Computers.
- Browse to the Users organizational unit.
- From the Action menu, choose Export List.
- Provide a name and location for the exported
file, and choose the type of file you need—either a tab-delimited
.txt file or a comma-delimited .csv file.
In addition, you can easily narrow down the
list of information in certain tools that are exported to make it
easier to manipulate. Here's how:
- From the
Administrative Tools folder, open Active Directory Users And
- Browse to
the Users container.
- Click the
filter icon on the toolbar to show the Filter Options.
- If you want
to export just a list of users, choose Show Only The Following
Types Of Objects.
Users, and click OK.
