Spider-Man 2Rotten Tomatoes, the movie reivew aggregator site, has scoured their ratings archives and ranked the 93 Worst to Best Comic Book Movie Adaptations of all time. Now, I had plenty of quibbles with the overall rankings, but was generally in agreement with the ballpark placements. Obviously, movies with broad appeal got higher “Tomatometer” rankings than some niche offerings that I thought deserved better, and the list itself wasn’t by any means comprehensive, limiting itself essentially to 1970 forward. Interestingly, RT’s threshold for worth seeing–60% positive reviews–only covers #34 upwards (starting with this year’s 300), suggesting that roughly two-thirds of all comic book movies are crap. (That, I’ll agree with.) I won’t recount all 93 list flicks here but, for your argumentative pleasure, here are a pair of Top 10s:

I’ll be curious to see where Spider-Man 3 eventually fits in, since early reviews aren’t that strong. If you’ve got a list–or just a review–feel free to share it. That’s half the fun of movies, anyway!
