All in all, it was a pretty good year for feedback for the Career Management blog. Abusive email messages telling me I’m ugly we’re at a minimum, and the discourse between members in the forum was, for the most part, constructive and informative. What more can a girl ask for?

The most rewarding aspect of writing this blog is getting a conversation going among TR members. I sometimes get mail from people asking why I throw a question out there but don’t provide the answer. Well, sometimes there’s just not one answer. I throw the question out there so that this audience can chew on it. If you read the ensuing discussion, you’ll get answers in myriad forms.

I can give you my answer, but what does that mean in the grand scheme of things? Isn’t it better to get 200 varying answers and then base an opinion on that?

With that in mind, here are the top five Career Management blogs in terms of audience discussion for 2011:

5. How to deliver criticism to a sensitive employee. Employees who are prone to get emotional in the face of criticism are often hard to deal with.

4. How do you feel about holiday gift-giving in the office? I thought I was being Scrooge-like in my feelings on this one, but everyone made me feel a lot better.

3. Can you really complain about your workload? This piece was based on an email I received from a disgruntled coworker of a woman who surfed the Net all day and then complained about her workload.

2. Computer Professionals Update Act seeks to remove overtime pay for IT pros. Combine pay and politics and you’re sure to get a heated discussion.

1.   Most despised corporate buzzwords. This blog was the winner with 608 comments. In other words, we really, really hate buzzwords. This blog also spawned two sequels: An alternative to corporate buzzwords (that alternative being PLAIN LANGUAGE) and the tongue-in-cheek Stupid alternatives to hackneyed buzzwords.
