This TR Member Spotlight focuses on a multi-talented, long-time TechRepublic member — Ernest Bywater, better known in the forums as Deadly Ernest.
Learn about the story behind Ernest’s 40-year old nickname, his return to formal IT education in 1999, which distributions of Linux he thinks are most popular with tech-challenged end users, and much more. Listen to the podcast.
Besides being an IT consultant, Ernest is also a writer and a photographer. The links and explanations below were provided by Ernest. Please take a few minutes to check them out.
Writing
Dpdotcom sells pdf versions of the stories ($5 each), and Lulu sell On Demand printed versions as well as pdfs. The Ernest Edwards nom de plume was requested by my publisher to differentiate the Clan Amir series from the general writing. All the Clan Amir books are novel length, but some are collections of short stories – some of those short stories are available at Writer’s Block and SOL to encourage people to buy the rest – hint, hint.
My best recommends are Rough Diamond available free at SOL in html or paid for pdf and book at Lulu – Ed’s New Life, Out of Reach, and Stand in Time at dpdotcom or as a book from Lulu. Hell Hound is good for those who like military related action, as is the entire Clan Amir series.
- Writer’s Block – also has some photos as well as stories
- ASSTR
- Stories On Line (SOL) under Ernest Bywater and Ernest Edwards
- Lulu
- dpdotcom’s Lulu shopfront
Photos
- Renderosity – they permit free membership (no direct link due to their scripting system)
- Photobucket
