Spike is a special AutoText entry that stores deleted content (and graphics). Simply highlight the content or select the graphic and press [Ctrl]+F3 to delete the selection from the current document and add it to the Spike. Repeat this process until you’ve moved everything you want to delete. Word appends deleted content to the Spike — it won’t overwrite existing content. That way, you can remove content from numerous spots and insert the collection elsewhere, as a unit.
To insert the contents of the Spike, position the insertion point (in the current document or another) and press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+F3. Doing so will insert the entire contents of the Spike and empty it. It’s a good idea to empty the Spike before using it, just in case it contains content from earlier use.
Use Word’s Spike to move content
Save deleted content in Word's Spike for later use in the same document or in a different Word document.
