At the Mobilize conference held in San Francisco, Motorola unveiled Motoblur, a new user interface based around social networking. The Android OS-based skin will feature live widgets for integrating sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace, as well as aggregating contact details and displaying recent status updates during calls. T-Mobile debuted the Cliq (shown at right), a smartphone designed to use Motoblur.
This CNET News video features Motorola co-CEO Dr. Sanjay K. Jha debuting Motoblur and T-Mobile Senior Vice President Cole Brodman unveiling the Cliq. Brodman notes that the Cliq will be available in time for the holiday season.
After the announcements, ZDNet Senior Editor grabbed his Flip cam and asked several conference attendees if the news is compelling enough to make them consider switching to the Cliq. Watch the video to see what they say about the Cliq.
On TechRepublic’s sister site ZDNet, Andrew Nusca provides the full specs for the Cliq. In the related gallery, Motorola CLIQ: Google Android smartphone on T-Mobile, he notes the device “will offer 3G/HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, a full HTML Web browser, 6 hours of active battery use, POP3/IMAP and Microsoft Exchange support.” (See additional photos of the Cliq.)
