In the wake of Merriam-Webster declaring w00t as the Word of the Year for 2007, I think we can all agree that the whole LOLcat thing has reached its apex and it’s time to move on. This Webcomic from Wellington Grey sums it up nicely. And no, I don’t think we’re actually doing lasting damage to the English language, mostly because this isn’t a remotely new phenomenon. If English can survive oll korrect, it can survive I can has cheezburger. It’s just passe. Seriously, you LOLcat freaks have almost made all your base are belong to us seem fresh and new again.
